But that's not the point of this rambling. The point(-ish) is that I figured six months had to be long enough and started poking around fanfiction again. I love a piece of well-written literature. I'm at a point in life that free is the best kind. Sadly, all of the good authors seem to be in college (or at university if you prefer) and all that's left are the ones who sadly need beta readers. Badly. Suffice it to say, I haven't been able to get back into any of the anime fanfics or even the KH works. I turned to TH/CB works because a couple months back, I found a beautifully written TH piece. It was believable. *gasp* This was not what I found when I started looking today, especially the CB fics.
I'll admit that abuse (verbal, physical, sexual), rape, drugs, and alcohol can all be excellent character/plot developments, when used correctly. It's not hard to research any of these; heck, they're on daytime television these days. But so help me, if I see another "CB are vampires/werewolves" fic again, I'll put in my fangs and bite whoever wrote it. This can be good, in moderation. Not in every single story in existence.
Speaking of every (CB) story in existence, WHY does TH feature in EVERY SINGLE ONE!? No, seriously, why? Lady Gaga featuring in one or two would make sense. TH shares a homeland and a label with CB, that's about it. Aside from fan-base.
Also, who decided to call Shin and Yu Tim and Dirk? Tim is such a colorless name; Shin is such a silver person. I mean, I knew a Timothea. That's all red, black, cream, and elegance. Timothy is all blue, brown, earth, and sea. Tim is the guy in the cubicle next to yours who doesn't gossip at the water cooler. Dirk is a green name, but not a good green. Dirk's the middle-aged man next door with the greasy comb-over, disrespectful teenagers, and a contentious wife. Maybe he and Tim could be friends; if Tim wasn't so a-social. Maybe Tim's a pretentious jerk and Dirk's a closet sociopath. Maybe I'm a pretentious jerk and a closet sociopath. (I would love to be Albert Wesker.) Anyway, Tim and Dirk are horrible names. The name Kristian for Kiro. This is just too feminine for my tastes. While Kiro could easily pass as a woman with his long extensions in, he is very much a man.
On the subject of names, when setting a fanfic in a country other than your own, feel free to look up local names of the setting country. I strongly suggest NOT using American names in Japan or Germany settings. Also, when typing Rom3o's name, go ahead and use an e instead of the 3. That's how he's been spelling it recently.
I think we'll move away from fanfiction now. On to: concert updates! My gogo boots arrived! Definitely not used to that high a heel. @_@ Nearly killed myself walking down the stairs to the laundry room. As to the tights, I need to see if it isn't too late to return them. The packaging indicates they should fit, but I only got them half-way up my thighs. TMI, yeah? That's life, un.
As to the concert itself, I'm waiting on a little piece of hugely important feedback. If it pans out, all I'll need is another warm body in the car to piss me off or sing with me and generally keep me awake. And my brother's car. I agree with my mother when she says Bindi won't make it to LA. A fairly non-stop 12 hour drive? Nothin' doin'. I'll also need about 20 pounds of potatoes to bribe my uncle into letting me sleep on his couch for a night.
Problem with warm body: no one I know has the money. It's only around 100 dollars (ticket, gas, food), no where near the strain I originally thought it would be. But that's with another person helping pay for gas and no hotel room. Without said person, tack on another 50-70 dollars. Even so, I may barely have enough to go by myself.
Sadly, Mommy's still in charge of my life. She pays the bills, yar. She would prefer me to go to Denver that weekend for some random relation's 50th wedding anniversary. I don't know my family, not even my brothers. (No seriously. We talk sometimes, but we're more like casual friends than relatives. Unless we're fighting.) My aunt actually told me to get up and move at the last family reunion. I stood up and moved over a foot. It was awesome.
Even if I don't go to Denver, my mother's step-sister's husband is going to be in town that weekend. Mom keeps on me about spending time with family and I keep saying I am almost fully prepared to fund this venture by myself. I could almost pay completely in cash. I've been planning this since January and I've been saving ever since I found out CB was going to be in America. This was going to be their first American show ever until Lady Gaga invited them on tour.
If the feedback falls through, I'll be bitterly disappointed, excessively moody, and over all waspish. Then I'll take the money I saved up and go buy myself a tablet. Cuz I totally have the money for one now.
Oh, and, moving on, I got in a bit of a tiff on THI. I can't for the life of me remember why I even read her comment; it's not a subject I usually touch. I think it's moot and dead. Anyway, she said that she believed there could be a, we'll call it physical, relationship between Bill (TH for the un-inducted) and his make-up artist. This was a rumor started by a French gossip magazine and it was squashed some months ago. I refuted her comment by informing her the make-up artist is married. With at least one child. She said she didn't believe that, so I quoted an admin who never posts anything unless she's as close to 100% sure of her facts as she can be. The girl still didn't believe and went so far as to accuse Bill of being a home-wrecker. Then the aforementioned admin and a mod got involved and indirectly told me to cool it. I, of course, couldn't leave it alone and made a much less scathing response to them. Because they have many more facts than me and don't go spreading fanfiction trite like it's the Holy Truth. Then the girl who started it had the audacity to whine at me about "attacking" her. Not her opinions, her. I nearly blew up in her face and got myself banned. I did accuse her of ad hominem and indirectly told her to shut up and never talk to me again. Then I wrote an apology to the admin.
I probably shouldn't bring that over here, but it really bothers me. She would not listen. Divorce leaves very real marks on the children of the broken marriage, and usually on the people getting divorced too. Bill is very self-centered and both twins are cautious about who to trust. Georg is going through similar situations. This isn't entirely due to divorced parents; there's also this horrendous little thing called public education. And German media. Damn the German media. (Aside from them trying to get the TH fans to shut CB down before they even started, the list is too long to think about.)
Despite Bill's lack of faith in the institute of marriage, I do not believe he'd put Nattie's child through that. I also don't believe Nattie's that kind of woman.
Raw. Hopefully I've gotten that out of my system now.
